Three Wars of Independence were fought in Pennsylvania in the 1700’s. The first two you’ve never heard of. Why?

In 1763, separate, parallel Wars for Independence started in Pennsylvania, a decade before the American Revolution of 1776. One was led by White Settlers, the other by Native Americans. Both were triggered when a nameless band known only as the Paxtons massacred 20 Conestoga Indians living peacefully on a farm in Lancaster County.. This is one of American history's most crucial turning points, yet few people have heard of it. Today, a small group of survivors still struggles for recognition.

This series will explore the life and art of one of these pioneers, told by his family and the curators who are working to re-establish this photography in its rightful place as seminal works of 20th-century Art.
